Being a parent did not come with any instructions, or how-to’s, because each child is different from the other. That is something we as parents have learned ourselves. So, kudos to us! We all felt we were doing the best we could juggling raising our children, working, and taking care of the home. Do not get me wrong, we also felt surprisingly good about how we were keeping it all together.
Then BOOM! The bottom drops out and here we are with COVID-19, staring us in the face, now we are all hanging on trying to keep it all together. We all had to make great adjustments, almost all things are shut down. Schools, activities, and most jobs. Now what? I mean, what do we do now? And how do we get it done?
Like a rising thermostat’ so does our emotions, and our responsibilities. So much was required of us, without any instructions or how- to’s, once again.
So, each day we were questioning ourselves, did we squeeze it all in and get it done? Did our child or children understand our teaching methods? Did I take the meat out for tomorrow's dinner?
So much to go over in my mind, that alone is very exhausting. Then I remind myself, there is only one of you, and you only have two hands. Girl, you are doing the best you can with what you have to work with.
Suddenly, a slight smile starts to appear, then a big smile stretches across my face. It is then that I realize our best is good enough; and those things were getting done.
Just do what we had to do for that day and there will always be tomorrow.
Matthew also agrees with us: Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:34
